In this lecture I will consider some of the surviving evidence we have of later medieval pilgrims' reading. Building on the work being undertaken by the Leverhulme 'Pilgrim Libraries: Books & Reading on the Medieval Routes to Rome & Jerusalem' international network, I will explore how much we know about the kinds of books medieval travellers read before, during, and after their journeys.
