The York Mathematics Fellowship Development Bursary is an award of up to £1000 for an Early Career Researcher to visit York in order to develop an application for an Early Career Fellowship to be held at York.

The deadline has now passed for 2024 applications. The intention is that the visit would be made during May to July 2024, and normally at least two months before the closure date of the relevant scheme. During the visit, we would offer professional and academic mentoring, a chance to give a seminar and to meet existing ECRs and staff. It is essential that the applicant has made contact with a staff member and has a workable date in mind for the visit.

Up to 3 awards are given per year. For candidates not able to travel there would be no financial component but we would offer virtual support and mentoring.

The bursary could be to support an application to any suitable scheme. However, in 2024 there is a special focus on candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship. Please check the eligibility criteria carefully. If you have studied or worked in the UK for 12 months or more in the three years prior to the September 2024 deadline then you need to consider other EC countries in which to do the fellowship. Call opens 9th April 2024 with a deadline on the 11th September 2024. These bids need at least 2 months to develop properly.

If you are interested in applying for the bursary then please contact the member of staff  with whom you wish to work and complete the form.
