About the programme

Led by experienced academics from the Universities of Maastricht and York, you'll:

  • Work on a set of engaging case studies that bring together diverse disciplinary perspectives.
  • Consider how to navigate the complex challenges of developing and deploying robotic systems ethically and safely.

As part of the programme, you'll also:

  • Benefit from dedicated career development sessions designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in your future career.
  • Have the exciting opportunity to attend the last day of the TAROS Conference (taros-conference.org), on Friday 22nd August. Immerse yourself in the latest research and connect with the wider robotics community.
    • As part of the TAROS conference, you can apply to give a short presentation or present a poster. If you're interested, contact the CDT track chair via ymp@york.ac.uk before May. (This is in addition to the regular TAROS poster track open till the 5th of May.)
  • Have the opportunity to take part in a range of social activities and networking opportunities.

This Summer School represents a great opportunity to broaden your expertise, enhance your research impact and position yourself at the forefront of responsible robotics innovation. It's a great opportunity to expand your knowledge, refine your skills and become a leader in the responsible development of robotics.

Costs and what's included

The programme fee is £760 for all five days.

As well as a full programme of sessions across five days and working with experts from Maastricht and York, additional benefits are:

  • Self-catered accommodation is provided (single ensuite rooms) on campus at the University of York for the week.
  • An arrival and departure lunch.
  • The cost of social events is included in the programme fee.

Applicants can also apply for a bursary from the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) as part of the application form. We may not be able to provide funding for every successful applicant.

  • Letter of recommendation from your doctoral supervisor
  • A brief statement of research interests (maximum 500 words).
