SUBLIM Summer Conference 2022
Posted on 10 August 2022
In July, we celebrated the first two-day Student Conference held at Maastricht's Tapijn Campus in Maastricht.
This event brought together the SUBLIM students with academic and professional services staff from both institutions and external partners who have worked with the students within the module teaching and / or through dissertation placements. External partners included Natural Resource Wales (part of the Welsh Government), Ellers Farm Distillery, a start-up distillery business in North Yorkshire and Hollybank Trust, a national charitable organisation who provide teaching and residential care for children, young people and adults with profound and multiple disabilities.
On Day One, the students presented an update on their Individual Sustainable Business Project (dissertation) research. We were particularly impressed with the way they expertly handled the fielded questions and the reflective responses which showed a clear grasp of the research process.
On Day Two, we had a site visit and cultural activities which included a visit to Gedeelde Weelde, a community cooperative supermarket and a guided tour of Maastricht city caves. Overall, the Conference was a huge success. All attendees provided extremely positive feedback and I'm delighted to say that the partner organisations are keen on developing long-term links with the programme. My thanks to all staff across both institutions who helped make it such a success.
