People walk along High Petergate in York with Bootham Bar in the background

York has long been famous for its many pubs. These have historically been economically, socially, and culturally important to the city’s community and to visitors. Join us for a few fun hours to learn about the role of pubs, inns, and taverns to York’s local history, using a selection of case studies. Through them, we learn not just about pubs but about the history of York, and the history of alcohol in England.
