Introducing Logic

Wednesday 2 October 2024, 7.00PM to 9:00pm

Speaker(s): Ed Willems PhD

Page of a dictionary focused on the definition of the word philosophy

Logic is the science of inference - it tells us how arguments succeed and fail, and what sentences really mean (and sometimes that they have no meaning at all). In the modern world, logical thinking is important for detecting and analysing fallacious arguments and misinformation. In this course, you will learn to symbolise English sentences in truth-functional logic, detect logical fallacies, understand deductive validity, and be able to construct deductively valid arguments and address logical puzzles and paradoxes.
