Saturday 24 May 2025, 10.00AM to 1.00pm
Speaker(s): Daisy Johnson MA MPhil PhD
Girls have always been a vital part of children's books but the sort of girl which has been written about has not always been the same thing. In this class, we'll consider representations of 'the girl' within children's literature from the early-twentieth century to date, and unpack how she has been impacted by adults, changing ideas of childhood, and wider phenomena such as the First and Second World Wars.
