Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell were two of the most important American poets of the twentieth century, as well as being very close friends. Closely analysing selected work by both poets, we will explore the concerns and preoccupations of each poet, their poetic relationship, and their contribution to the development of modern English-language poetry.
