‘The Topography of Home’: Literature of Home and Homecoming

Beginning with Homer’s Odyssey, this course will look at a selection of fiction and non-fiction texts which explore the themes of ‘home’ and ‘homecoming’. Texts will include Charles Frazier’s Cold Mountain, The Snow Geese by William Fiennes, Thomas Hardy’s The Return of the Native, Colm Toibin’s Brooklyn, The Hare with Amber Eyes by Edmund de Waal and The Offing by Benjamin Myers. A fuller reading list will be available on request.
