Painting Nature, Light and Colour: Pre-Raphaelites, Impressionists and more

If you are drawn to the passion for nature, light and colour shown by nineteenth-century and early twentieth century European painters and would like to know more about them, this is the course for you. We will introduce the work of Pre-Raphaelite, Impressionist, Rural Naturalist and Macchiaioli artists, explaining many striking and fascinating examples. Together we will consider the artists’ technical innovations and approaches to representing modern life. By the conclusion, you will come to understand relationships between British and continental styles.
