Taking the capitals of the Ottoman Empire (1299-1922) as a starting point, we will explore some of the most remarkable artistic achievements in Turkey today. We will visit the first mosques and mausoleums of Bursa and the monumental complex of the Selimiye mosque in Edirne, designed by the famous architect Sinan (1489-1588). Istanbul with its religious buildings and sumptuous palaces and the most beautiful art objects, now preserved in important museums, will complete the course.
