Through this exploration of the key prints and printmakers in eighteenth and nineteenth century Britain, we’ll investigate the role of printmaking in producing multiple images. We’ll encounter key figures such as William Hogarth, James Gilray, George Cruikshank and William Blake, and explore a range of satirical, illustration and art reproduction prints. We’ll learn about a range of different types of printmaking (such as etching, engraving and woodcuts), and will think about the varying roles and uses of prints.
