Saturday 3 May 2025, 10.00AM to 4.30pm
Speaker(s): Joe Saunders MA MPhil
The mid-seventeenth century was one of the most momentous eras in English history with riot, rebellion and civil war leading to what some have called the English Revolution. This study day will explore events which saw a higher proportion of the English population die than in the First World War, the monarchy toppled and early discussions of parliamentary sovereignty and religious freedom. It will consider political and military affairs and discuss the social, cultural and economic impacts for ordinary people.
