Well before our appearance in Europe, another human species inhabited our continent: Neanderthal Man. It was the only other human species we ever encountered, but this encounter was to leave long-lasting marks on our history and evolution. In this course, we will look at the archaeological record for Neanderthals across Europe. We will explore Neanderthal’s relationship with the challenging environment of Ice Age, relational dynamics, and try to delve deeper into its symbolic and emotional mind.
