This is a course for anyone interested in writing poetry, whether you have some experience or are entirely new to it. We will practice and build up a set of poetic skills, forms, and techniques. Across the term, you’ll explore a variety of poetic forms and techniques to discover your own poetic voice. Each week we will take inspiration from the work of the best contemporary poets, learning from their work a new style and technique. You will have the opportunity to write your own poetry in response to what we have learned, and each week there will be space to workshop your poetry with your classmates who will become your own writing community. By the end of the course you will have started to gather a selection of your own poems to take with you on the next step of your poetry journey.
