Psychology of Mental Health

Mental health conditions are characterised by a clinically significant disturbance in an individual’s cognition, emotional regulation, or behaviour. The World Health Organisation estimates that 1 in every 8 people in the world lives with a mental health condition. This module is designed to be an introduction to the psychology of mental health. We will cover areas including mood, stress, anxiety, eating, and personality disorders, as well as different therapeutic approaches. We will explore outdated beliefs, modern classification systems, and a range of explanations for the causes of mental health conditions.
