Personality psychology looks at the variation in processes of thoughts, feelings, and behaviour that make a person unique. This introductory module will explore the debate between nature and nurture that questions are we born with a fixed personality, or do we develop our personality as we interact with our environment? We will explore historical perspectives traced back to Hippocrates (ca 460-377 BC), and theoretical approaches such as Biological, Psychoanalytical, Cognitive, Social and Cultural. Module content will be linked to stress, coping, health and personality disorders.
