Monday 19 April 2021, 7.00PM to 9.00pm
Speaker(s): Tom Bromwell BA MA
Between 1914 and 1945 Britain was faced by great uncertainty and change. The period was demarcated by the two World Wars and overwhelmed by political, social and cultural upheaval, yet it was also a period of excitement, glamour, and the unimagined possibilities of the modern world. This course will explore the role that art and visual culture played in the complex and often contradictory spirit of the times and examines how art shaped a sense of national identity that continues to fundamentally resonate with us today.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining our online courses would need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
