Point 7 on the self-guided library tour
If all the copies of a book you need are out on loan you can request it via YorSearch. This is known as 'placing a hold' on a book.
If you place a hold on a book and it is returned by another user, it will be placed on this shelf for you to collect. This ensures that no-one else can nab it in the meantime! You will receive an email from the Library telling you that your item is ready and you will be given a collection code so that you can locate it on the hold shelf.
Next stop: the Burton
Continue in the same direction as before through a set of glass doors into our second Library building, the Burton, where you will find Point 8 on the tour.
Ned from our Faculty Librarian Team explains the Hold Shelf.
