Point 1 on the self-guided library tour
Welcome to the University Library’s self led tour. There are 10 tour stops to complete but you will find further QR codes all around our buildings linking to useful information, and we encourage you to explore freely.
Ned Potter from the Faculty Librarian Team will be your tour guide; if you'd prefer to read than to watch or listen, all the key info is below.
If you don't have headphones and are feeling self-conscious about the sound, feel free to hold your phone up to your ear - you won't be missing any important visuals!
Opening Hours
The library is open 8am to midnight, seven days a week - except during the last four weeks of each Semester when we open 24/7. You will need your student card to access our buildings and borrow resources.
Refreshments
As you enter through the automatic doors you will see the Library Cafe on your left; this is a great place to grab some hot food and a drink when you need a break! These doors close once the staffed service ends but the space can still be accessed after hours for vending machine drinks and snacks via a door onto the Library foyer.
Entering the library
Scan your student card or the MyUoY app to come through our turnstiles. If you are an external visitor or have forgotten your card don't worry, just speak to a member of staff at Reception (on the right) and they will give you a temporary card to allow you into the building.
Next stop: the Library & IT Helpdesk
The next stop on the tour can be found on the pillar in the centre of the main Library foyer, just ahead and to the right of the turnstiles.
