Library opening hours across the year
This page provides an overview of our year-round opening for our main library: the Morrell, Burton and Fairhurst. Follow our social media channels and News pages to keep up to date - changes to our hours are rare but if anything unexpected happens this is where we'll tell you about it.
The library is usually open 8am to midnight. The exceptions to this are some days over the Christmas period when the library closes early or is closed all day, and the Common Assessment Periods (CAP) at the end of each Semester, when the library opens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
As of 28 October, outside of the exam period (CAP) the library runs in eco-mode. This means that while the Morrell remains open until midnight, the Burton closes at 21:30 and the Fairhurst closes at 22:00. This allows us to power down the building, save energy and reduce carbon emissions. During the exam period, all three main library buildings are open 24/7.
