About the collection
The collectors
Several of the books appear to have been given to the parish by the lords of the manor of Kildwick. Henry Currer (1651-1722) owner of Kildwick Hall (30 books donated between 1710 and 1722) and his son Haworth (1690-1744) (4 books donated between 1725 and 1727). Another family member Wiliam Currer of Steeton also donated books. There is one manuscript which includes the lectures of John Pering, vicar in the parish from 1806, and also includes recipes and household hints and tips.
Acquisition
The books were deposited at the University in 2019 on permanent loan from the Vicar and parochial church council.
