Audiovisual collection
We provide access to audiovisual material both physical media like Blu-rays, and online via incredible resources such as Box of Broadcasts.
Box of Broadcasts (BoB)
We subscribe to Box of Broadcasts (BoB), Learning on Screen's on demand TV and radio service for education.
Staff and students can record programmes from over 65 free-to-air channels, including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Film4, Channel 5, CNN and Sky News, as well as having access to an extensive archive.
DVDs and CDs
On Floor 0 of the Harry Fairhurst building you'll find 3,500 Blu-rays, DVDs, and CDs. You can borrow this material using the self-issue machine in the room: they count towards the 75 items you can have on loan at one time. Simply return them in the same way you would return a book, using the self-return machine in the Morrell.
DVD and other audio visual players
There is a variety of equipment in the DVD viewing room (LFA/027) within the John Barry Audiovisual collection, including a Blu-ray player for DVDs and Blu-ray discs, a DAB radio, a record player, a cassette player, a CD player and headphones. You need to book the DVD viewing room (LFA/027) to use the equipment. There are also PCs in LFA/001 with CD/DVD players which do not need booking.
Teaching arrangements for DVDs
If you are an academic requiring DVDs for teaching or are a designated screening assistant (usually postgraduate students), you may borrow reference DVDs labelled For Use in the Library Only for up to a week. Contact your Faculty Librarian to register to use this service and/or to give the Library details of their designated screening assistants.
