We’re making some important temporary changes to our Laptop service
From 24 February, we’ll be making some important changes to our Laptop Loan service on a temporary basis.

You may have noticed that our 4-hour laptop loan cabinet in the Morrell Library has been out of action since December. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this device and no hardware support in the UK any longer. So from 24 February and into the first week of March we’ll be making some adjustments to our loan laptop service to ensure that this service is accessible to as many people as possible.
From 24 February we will be pausing loans of 7 day laptops from the remaining Morrell and Fairhurst cabinets. If you have a 7 day laptop on loan from us, you should return it by Sunday 2 March or by the due date on your account.
From 3 March all of our laptop cabinets across our sites, including the remaining Morrell cabinet and the Fairhurst cabinets will issue laptops as a standard 4-hour loan. Our laptop loan service is very popular and this will ensure that our laptop provision is accessible to as many people as possible.
If you need a device for longer
There may be cases where you need access to a computer for longer periods of time. There are many computer labs and spaces across the University, including in the Library that may be suitable for your study. If you need a laptop, please talk to us at the Library Helpdesk, and we will be happy to discuss options with you in line with your needs.
