We are no longer active on Twitter / X
As of September 2024, we will no longer log into the @UoYLibrary X account.
Back in July we announced on X that we'd be leaving the platform at the end of the August. This is for a number of reasons: primarily it no longer works as an effective method of distributing information to our communities.
In order to prevent any misuse of our identity, we will keep the account - but we have ceased all activity. Please don't message us there as we won't see it or be able to see it or respond.
We have taken the decision to leave with some sadness as we have really enjoyed our 14 years on the platform. We posted a nostalgic thread of some of our best semi-viral moments, and when Twitter was good it truly was a fantastic community to be a part of. Thank you to everyone who interacted with us over the years.
Where can people get updates about the University of York Library now?
- We have created a Library Status Page to go with the existing IT and Estates equivalents, specifically to try and fill the Twitter-void. This will be an easy way to find out the more functional information we used to post on X - for example whether there are issues with any of our services on a given day
- We would love anyone with an Instagram account to follow us there @UoYLibrary. Instagram is our main social media platform, and we post frequent updates to our Stories
- We are also @UoYLibrary on TikTok - although we post less frequently there we do round-up posts like this one which get you up to date on library news
- And talking of library news, you're on the Library News Pages right now. We'll always post key updates to our website
- Finally you can always get in touch via Chat or email - see our Contact page for more info
