University of York Library Collection principles

The Library will be in Eco-Mode from 28 October onwards
In order to save energy and reduce carbon emissions, the library will restart 'eco-mode’ from Consolidation Week until the exam period. Typically, all three main library buildings remain open until midnight. However in eco-mode the Fairhurst and Burton will close earlier each day, at 10pm and 9:30pm respectively, while the Morrell will continue to stay open until midnight to accommodate late-night users.

We’re making changes to our postal loans and postal returns services
From Friday 13th September, we will be making changes to our domestic postal loans and postal returns services.

Activating library eco-mode in August

We’re stopping our international loans service
From Friday 26th July, we will no longer be posting any Library items internationally. We will also no longer be refunding the postage costs of returning items from outside of the UK.

Announcement about decommissioning of the YODL Web Service
We regret to inform you that after 14 years of successful operation, YODL (York Digital Library) site has been withdrawn. As of Thursday 29 February 2024, access to all digital collections on this platform will cease and move to discover.york.ac.uk.

The library will open 24/7 from 8 January to 4 February
To support exam preparation and revision, we will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from 8am on Monday 8 January until we close at midnight on 4 February.
