Bridge to the Future Law Awards
These awards - worth £2,000 over two years - are open to students who are starting their second year of study, are interested in the public service aspects of law, and have overcome significant barriers in their personal, social or domestic life to achieving their educational goals.
1. Bridge to the Future Scholarships
For students who are interested in the public service aspects of law, we are offering one Bridge to the Future Scholarship starting in Year 2. The scholarship is intended to support students in the final two years of their studies at YLS. If the successful scholar is a 3-year LLB student they will receive £2000 in total: £1000 paid in Year 2 and £1000 in Year 3. If the successful scholar is a Senior Status student they will receive £1000 in total, paid in Year 2.
2. Bridge to the Future Mentorships
The Bridge to the Future Mentorship scheme is open to eligible Year 2 students who are interested in pursuing a career in law and who would otherwise lack access to the legal profession. Successful applicants will be provided with a one-year Mentoring Package which will include being partnered with an external mentor. The mentors will be drawn from YLS alumni who are members of the legal profession.

- Open to: International (including EU) and UK (home) students
- Number available: Three
Mentees will have an opportunity to access financial support from YLS to help to facilitate contact with the external mentor and to support them in pursuing careers-related and personal development opportunities.

Open to International (including EU) and UK (home) students.
Open to students in the York Law School.
Open to students in Year 2 of the LLB programme at York Law School who obtained an average of 60 per cent in Year 1 assessments, and who aspire to use their law degree for the public good.
You must be either:
- a Home (UK) student with a residual household income of £42,872 or less per annum
- an EU student with a residual household income of £42,872 or less per annum
- an international student studying at York on a scholarship.
