Biography
LLB (Hons) (Leeds), LLM (York)
Zaki graduated from the University of Leeds in 2016 with a LLB and graduated from the University of York in 2019 with a LLM in Legal and Political Theory.
He commenced his PhD in October 2020 where his research explores the relationship between state sovereignty and the enforcement of legal norms, with a particular focus on Crimes Against Humanity. His research particularly focuses on the value of legal norms within the international legal order and their sources.
The aim of his research is to ultimately develop an account of the compatibility of state sovereignty and international enforcement notwithstanding current trends towards isolationism, authoritarianism, and nationalism on a global scale.
