LLB (Hons) from Birmingham University
Associate Lecturer
I trained as a solicitor at Lovell White Durrant (now Hogan Lovells) before continuing my career in-house firstly with a small insurer then with what was initially Halifax Building Society (now part of the Lloyds Banking Group). I worked as part of a team which advised the personal current account, savings and credit card team as well as representing the bank on various British Banking Association working groups. I am a solicitor although non-practising.
During a career break I took on various voluntary roles including being a chair of governors and working with a charity supporting parents of children with additional needs. With several proposed changes to the law in the education and care sectors, there was plenty to keep my "legal brain" active. As a charity we also ran workshops and training for social workers and school SENCOs.
