I studied English and History at Northumbria University (previously Newcastle Polytechnic) before completing a postgraduate law conversion course and Legal Practice Course in Manchester.

After completing my training contract and qualifying at Weightmans in Liverpool, I moved a few years later to Walker Morris in Leeds where I specialised in commercial real estate work, primarily within the retail and leisure sectors.

After leaving practice in 2003, I joined the College of Law (now the University of Law) as a lecturer and later a senior lecturer.

I have many years’ experience lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate law students, teaching a wide range of courses in law including several foundation subjects, options and legal and professional skills.

I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in 2015.
