Wednesday 21 June 2023, 9.45PM to 14:30pm
On Wednesday 21st June 2023, the Department of Language and Linguistic Science is hosting a Subject Conference Day for Year 12 Students.
The event is open to all Year 12 Students who are considering studying languages and/or linguistics at university and want to experience how we do things here at York. It will involve staff-led workshops in English language and linguistics and modern foreign languages, and a Q&A with staff and student ambassadors. A special part of the event will be a plenary talk by our own Dr Claire Childs, who will be presenting some findings from a new study into regional variation in the grammar of English dialects. Students are invited to participate in Dr Childs’ dialect survey themselves beforehand and then see the preliminary results when they come to the Subject Conference Day!
