Prof. (Head of Department of Language and Linguistic Science) has recently been interviewed by Dominique Russell from Wellbeing byTeacher for ‘Learning a new language as an adult’. Published in Teacher Magazine, the article focuses on the benefits of learning a new language as an adult.
‘Learning a new language as an adult’ illustrates that it can be hard to prioritise learning something new among the busyness of day-to-day life but there are many benefits to dedicating time to learning a new skill, and it’s never too late to start.
“ The myth that you have to be young when you start learning a language in order to have a chance to become ‘fluent’ is incredibly persistent. It’s also completely wrong. Successful language learning can and does take place at any age.” - Prof Monika Schmid, Department of Language and Linguistic Science
