This week the Department confirmed its place among the world's most highly regarded departments for the subject of Linguistics. The Department is ranked 10th in the UK and is in the world top 100 in the QS rankings.
Published annually since 2011, the QS World University rankings by subject highlight the world’s top universities in a range of popular subject areas, covering 48 subjects in 2019. Universities are scored according to academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact (number of citations per paper).
In total, eight subjects at the University were ranked in the world top 100: Archaeology (18th), English Language and Literature (22nd), History (49th), Development Studies (top 100), Linguistics (top 100), Psychology (top 100), Social Policy and Administration (10th) and Sociology (top 100).
