Deborah Cameron, Rupert Murdoch Professor of Language and Communication at the University of Oxford, gave a guest lecture entitled 'Changing the debate? Gender and language-use in the 2015 general election'. In this, she discussed the language used by party leaders during televised debates, and the (often confounded) expectations among the political pundits and the general public with respect to how the speech and language of male and female politicians would differ. Professor Cameron is the author of numerous books, including 'Verbal Hygiene', 'On Language and Sexual Politics', and 'The Myth of Mars and Venus'.
