Double success at York Talks

Posted on 12 January 2014

Our department was well represented at York Talks on 8 January 2014, with two professors, Dunstan Brown and Pino Longobardi, presenting their research in the main showcase event. Two of our PhD students, Catherine Laing and Becky Woods, presented in the final of the university-wide postgraduate research student poster competition.

Dunstan Brown talked about "Understanding linguistic complexity", and Pino Longobardi's topic was "Meeting Darwin's last challenge":

In conjunction there was an opportunity to view posters by 13 of York's PhD students, presenting their work to the York Talks audience. Catherine Laing's poster is "What does the cow say, and what can it do for us?" (Laing poster (PDF , 1,890kb)) and Becky Woods' is "How is the real world represented in grammar?"(Woods_poster (PDF , 787kb)).

Below are a couple of screenshots from Dunstan's and Pino's talks.
