Short courses in Spring 2025

Our short courses are a great opportunity to either familiarise yourself with a new language or to brush up on your skills if you have studied a language before.

LfA short courses take place in the evening or on Wednesday afternoon and courses focus on improving conversation skills or as an introduction to a new language. They run for eight weeks, from February to April.

We are currently offering courses in the following languages:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Medieval Latin
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Ukrainian

Please note that all courses will run subject to demand.

Languages for Everyday Communication courses

Beginner, Post-Beginner and Intermediate level language courses. These courses will provide students an opportunity to familiarise with a new language or improve their Beginner-level skills through language use in everyday situations.

  • Continuing Chinese for Everyday Communication
  • Ukrainian for Everyday Communication beginner

Specialist Language Courses

We offer selected specialist language courses with a focus on developing communication skills for languages for specific purposes.

  • Improve your English for IELTS
  • Medieval Documentary Latin

Languages for Intercultural Understanding

Beginner-level courses to familiarise with languages with non-Roman scripts. These in-person courses are ideal if you are interested in learning a language that is very different from the language(s) you speak.
