Short Courses: Conversation and Intercultural Understanding courses

Our short courses are a great opportunity to either familiarise yourself with a new language or to brush up on your skills if you have studied a language before.

LfA short courses take place in the evening or on Wednesday afternoon and courses focus on improving conversation skills or as an introduction to a new language. They run for eight weeks, from February to April.

Semester 2 Course Dates 

  • Start: week commencing Monday 10 February 2025
  • End: week finishing Friday 4 April 2025

Our short courses

Our short courses are 8-week long (2 weekly hours) and open to all. They are ideal for those willing to either familiarise with a new language or practise a language they have learnt before through conversation. They take place in the evening and on Wednesday afternoon.

Conversation and Culture courses

Courses for students with at least Lower Intermediate level in the chosen language and who are interested in improving their speaking skills through discussion of topics related to cultural and social aspects of the countries in which the language is spoken.

Languages for Everyday Communication courses

Beginner and Post-Beginner level language courses. These courses will provide students an opportunity to familiarise with a new language or improve their Beginner-level skills through language use in everyday situations.

Specialist Language Courses

We offer selected specialist language courses with a focus on developing communication skills for languages for specific purposes.

Languages for Intercultural Understanding

Beginner-level courses to familiarise with languages with non-Roman scripts. These in-person courses are ideal if you are interested in learning a language that is very different from the language(s) you speak.
