We work closely with the Careers and Placements team and potential employers to offer a programme of tailor-made careers activities, advice and training, specifically designed to help students develop employability skills and seize the opportunities that our Language and Linguistic Science degrees offer.
A full list of careers-related events offered by Careers and Placements, employers, academic departments and student societies is available to students via Handshake.
The University of York offers an exclusive programme of fairs and careers advice sessions to provide specific information to Arts and Humanities students about the different types of careers and work experience available to them.
Our students can also receive one-to-one careers advice and have mock interviews with careers consultants from the Careers and Placements team
What is more, the Faculty Employability Managers and Careers Consultants have developed a new innovative CV platform for students in partnership with an organisation called CareerSet. This platform enables our students to enhance their job applications by receiving instant personalised CV feedback based on the key criteria employers look for. The platform uses AI (artificial intelligence) technology, whilst being trained to recognise the CV standard we work towards here at York.
