Please follow the appropriate process below to update your University account to reflect your new name.
Please note, we will not normally change your username (or your email address if you're a student) when you change your name. This will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
If you joined the University after October 2022, you will have a randomly generated username that is not based on your initials.

You do not need documentation to change your name on your University account. Instead, please follow the steps below:
You can update your title, known-as-name, known-as-surname and previous name using MyView (please note you will need to be on campus or using the VPN to access this link).
Login using your username and password and then navigate to ‘My Personal Details’ on the menu on the left-hand side of the page. Once you have changed your details as required, choose ‘update now’ to save your updates.
MyView automatically populates the Staff Directory and the People Database. Your updated title and name will also show on any lecture and seminar timetables you appear on.
Once you have updated your details in MyView, we can allocate you with a new email address. Please contact IT Services, to get your new address set up.
It takes up to 24 hours for Google to update the display name to be the new name.
Some people may still see your old name in the address book. This is because, if they have emailed you before, your old name will be stored in their contacts. They need to delete this so that the new name replaces it.
