Our 60-second interview with Harriet:

Could you please tell us what work you do in the field of mental health?

I am interested in the ways in which online misogyny is influencing the behaviour and experiences of young people. One aspect of this is understanding how online experiences may impact upon people’s mental health.

What do you find most rewarding and inspiring in this work?

My favourite part of the job is collaborating with interesting people. I love learning from collaborators who have different skill sets to my own.

What is the most challenging or complicated aspect of this work?

Working with hateful content can be challenging for me and my team. It’s really important to be able to support each other.

What impact do you hope your work is having - or can potentially have?

I’d like to develop research-led interventions that reduce prejudice and discrimination among children and young people.

Could you share with us one piece of advice that you follow for your own mental health?

I’m not sure, I can offer lots of good advice that I fail to follow!
