Federico is a postdoctoral research assistant and has just completed his PhD in Music with a focus on musicians’ health at the University of York.

He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in guitar performance as well as a Master’s in Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy.

What do you do in the field of mental health?

Federico is a postdoctoral research assistant and has just completed his PhD in Music with a focus on musicians’ health at the University of York. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Guitar performance as well as a Master’s in Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy.

What do you find most rewarding and inspiring in this work?

Collaborating with colleagues and sharing ideas about how we can better investigate and understand people’s perceptions of mental health.

What is the most challenging or complicated aspect of this work?

Having a thorough understanding of the potential different factors affecting people’s mental health.

What impact do you hope your work is having - or can potentially have?

I hope my current work will help rebuild a community after the pandemic and increase awareness of mental health among Higher Education students and staff.

Could you share with us one piece of advice that you follow for your own mental health?

I try to have a daily walk after work and avoid working at weekends.
