The IGDC is seeking to appoint a part-time Research Support Officer to join the team.
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Global Development (IGDC), led by the Department of Politics in conjunction with the Departments of Environment and Geography, and History, is seeking to appoint a part-time Research Support Officer to join the team. The person appointed will support external partnerships (academic and stakeholder), income growth for the Centre, and communications and engagement.

Role
You will work closely with the leadership team of the IGDC and research support staff in Politics, providing high-quality research administrative support to IGDC. You will be a key contact for academic and research staff engaging with IGDC, supporting the research grant process and relationships with stakeholders including NGOs, international organisations and government departments. You will provide a funding opportunity alert service, helping staff match ideas to suitable sponsor schemes. You will contribute to activities promoting interdisciplinary research on global development by arranging and supporting events for the Centre and liaising with external stakeholders, pro-actively creating partnerships outside the University.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience
- Knowledge and understanding of research in a higher education environment
- Understanding of funding in relation to global development
- Good numeracy skills with accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a wide range of audiences
- Ability to use technology and applications innovatively and be proficient in using Microsoft Office and google suite
- Experience of working in a large, complex organisation, and dealing with financial and research-related information
