The Interdisciplinary Centre for Global Development (IGDC), led by the Department of Politics in conjunction with the Departments of Environment and Geography, and History, is seeking to appoint a part-time Communications Specialist to join the team. The person appointed will support communications of IGDC’s activities and engagement with internal and external partners (academic and stakeholder).

Role
You will be a key contact for academic and research staff engaging with IGDC, delivering a high-quality administrative service to support them in communicating their work to a wide audience. You will support marketing activity relating to IGDC, ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the development of external partnerships. You will co-ordinate the production of a range of IGDC promotional media in a range of printed and electronic materials and maintain IGDC’s digital presence, including website, blog, e-newsletters and social media content for external and internal audiences.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification or experience
- Knowledge of a full range of marketing practices and promotional activities, including social networking tools, and use of those practices within a complex organisation
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and Google suite
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently using own initiative, taking ownership and responsibility
- Experience running social media campaigns and writing for diverse audiences
- Experience planning and managing events
