Collaborative workshop with the National Railway Museum
Event details
2025 will mark a significant bicentenary in railway history – celebrating two hundred years since the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in the North East. Over the next few years there will be all sorts of railway bicentenaries as local and national groups seek to mark how railways spread across Britain and beyond.
There is already wide-ranging public interest in the topic, the time period, and the questions it raises about the present and future of railways, people, and the environment around us. It is a perfect time to come together and think about what resources, ideas, questions, and activities we might want to work on.
This workshop will include colleagues from across the Science Museum Group, providing an opportunity to explore collections, hear about future plans, and discuss potential collaborations.
