York Conference on Conversation Analysis
Event details
On the 12 July 2024, a group of postgraduate research students from the Department of Language and Linguistic Science and the Department of Sociology are hosting the inaugural York Conference on Conversation Analysis (YorCCA).
YorCCA is a CA conference organised by postgraduate researchers at the University of York and affiliated with the Centre for Advanced Studies in Language and Communication (CASLC). The conference aims to provide a welcoming environment for postgraduate researchers to present their work to fellow postgraduates and established academics, and to receive feedback and advice as they develop their projects.
Call for papers
We welcome proposals from postgraduate researchers, specifically those who are currently enrolled as PhD students or were enrolled as PhD students at any point during 2023, for 20-minute presentations of research that uses conversation analysis, interactional linguistics, or a related methodology. The focus should be on naturally occurring social interaction. The research must be based on audio-video recordings. Each 20-minute presentation will be followed by a 10-minute discussion period.
Abstract guidance
- Clearly describe the interactional phenomenon or practise your paper analyses.
- Briefly describe the data, collection, and specific methods used.
- Summarise the study's main findings or conclusions, however tentative.
- Include a brief transcript and sample analysis.
- Consider the wider contribution and implication of the research.
- Limit your abstract to 300 words (excluding the transcript).
- Please do not put your name, email address, or affiliation on the document (to facilitate a double blind review process).
Submission deadline for abstracts is Friday 5 April 2024.
For more information and to submit an abstract, please visit the York Conference website.
This event has been funded by the Humanities Research Centre Collaborative PhD Project Grant.
