Cake Thursday: REFILL CIC Takeover
Event details
Cake Thursday is an event open to all staff and postgraduates in the Arts and Humanities, where members of the community take turns to bake and share with one another. Cake Thursday takes place fortnightly on a Thursday from 3.15pm - 4.15pm in the Treehouse.
Our baking rota boasts a fabulous takeover… on Thursday 2nd March at 3.15pm, REFILL CIC, an environmental not-for-profit in York, will host Cake Thursday. REFILL is a Community Interest Company - based in Bishophill, since July 2021.
REFILL comprises of: a community fridge, redistributing surplus food with the aim to revalue and repurpose it and minimise waste; a vegetarian cafe using the surplus food for our menu, making it affordable and accessible for everyone; and a project hub with micro-exhibitions, community participatory projects and workshops.
Their motto is ‘revalue, repurpose and redistribute.’
Join us for this Cake Thursday to enjoy a variety of surplus pastries and learn about this initiative, the projects that they run, the environmental impact of food waste and how you can get involved. All welcome, free to attend, no registration required.
