Our research interests take both a conceptual and a practical focus, ranging from ethics, memory and history to developing public engagement with history.

We use our expertise to work in partnership with a wide range of external practitioners.

We established the Institute for the Public Understanding of the Past (IPUP) to stimulate debate and promote partnerships and consultancies between archives, museums, galleries, heritage, government and the media.

With IPUP we create interdisciplinary links between internal and external researchers, practitioners and audiences. Case studies of our work can be found on our pages.
