Academic publishes article in the Journal of World History

As part of an ongoing research collaboration of the ‘Afro-Asian Networks Research Collective’, the Department of History’s Dr Gerard McCann has contributed an article ‘Where was the Afro in Afro-Asian Solidarity? Africa’s “Bandung moment” in 1950s Asia’ to a new special edition of the Journal of World History, entitled ‘Other Bandungs: Afro-Asian Internationalisms in the Early Cold War’ (volume 30, numbers 1 & 2, 2019).

Another special edition from the collective – ‘Trade Union Networks and the Politics of Expertise in an Age of Afro-Asian Solidarity’ – is forthcoming in Journal of Social History (volume 53, number 2, December 2019).

A data visualisation that maps the major conferences of the Afro-Asian era in the 1950s and 1960s, including locations, delegates, delegate biographies, and countries of origin, is under construction for release in 2019.
