Student shortlisted for Undergraduate of the Year for Impactful Social Action

The TARGETJobs Undergraduate of the Year Award for Impactful Social Action recognises involvement in meaningful social action. Partnered with iWill and TeachFirst, TARGETJobs were looking for a student with the potential to become an impactful leader and the drive to go the extra mile.

Eleanor joined nine other finalists from universities across the country to attend an awards ceremony in Canary Wharf and network with influential social change figures working across a range of sectors. The award's application process involved three stages including online tests and an assessment centre in which applicants delivered presentations, met with like-minded peers and shared their enthusiasm for social action. 

The calibre of award finalists was extremely high and Eleanor's ongoing commitment and social engagement with the community stood out. Her past work includes acting as secretary of the Tea and Coffee Club, encouraging elderly members of the local community to socialise regularly with students, and volunteering for Open Minds to educate secondary school students about mental health. Eleanor said: "I’ve loved all of these volunteering projects and can’t wait to carry on working in the community after uni."

She continued: “The whole process was incredibly enjoyable and eye-opening, exposing me to new experiences and giving me the chance to meet some really inspirational people. Most significantly, it allowed me to gain an invaluable insight into the importance of this generation collaborating to instigate enduring and positive change across all sectors."
