Novel approaches to tackling antimicrobial resistance
Suranga Dolamulla selected to attend international workshop
Department of History and Centre for Global Health Histories-based Wellcome Trust Research Fellow Dr Suranga Dolamulla has been invited to attend a Newton fund workshop on working at the chemistry microbiology interface to develop new antibiotics.
The workshop brings together scientists and clinicians in India and the UK working at the chemistry-microbiology interface to explore novel approaches to tackling antimicrobial resistance in a range of bacteria and resistant tuberculosis. The residential workshop will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases, Bengaluru (India), from 14 to 18 December 2017. It is delivered by Public Health England and the British Council through a Newton Fund grant match-funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Antimicrobial resistance is an issue of great interest and importance to the CGHH, Department of History and the University of York, and so we are not only very interested to learn of Dr Dolamulla’s participation but look forward to hearing his insights from the workshop as well.
Finally, selection was competitive, through an international process, so we offer our congratulations Dr Dolamulla on his selection!
