Hills, H., (ed.), Architecture and the Politics of Gender in Early Modern Europe, Aldershot: Ashgate, 2003.
Urban History saw this collection as ‘pioneering’ in proposing that
‘the built environment is a more fruitful
subject of enquiry for gender (than painting), arguing that architecture organises all aspects of life spatially
through the body’. The Women’s Art Journal also noted this collection as
‘innovative’ and notes that I brought together all the leading authors in this
area.
